A Perfect Night for Ghosts, Ghouls and Minions

I think back to last year trick or treating and how MISERABLE it was.  If it wasn't for our determined little batman, we would have just visited the next door neighbours and then went home.  This year however was absolutely perfect.  The air was still, the temperature was warm and our little family spent an hour touring around the block.
Sam was really funny... he inspected each house and decided whether or not it was Halloween-y enough to trick or treat at!  So fun!
All ready to hit the trail to trick or treat!
This is the house that Sam talks about for all of October.  It was his mission to go there, even though it was a little bit scary.

Brave little minion!
This is another super spooky house on our block.  Sam obviously not terrified by this one!
And our last stop was at Sam's friends Rylan and Cameron's house.
Sam and his dad too charge of the pumpkin carving this year.  Sam drew the face and Shaun cut it out.  Happy Halloween friends!

Halloween Fun 2011

Holidays just keep getting more and more fun, the more Sam understands.  I love how he brings the magic back into holiday traditions that had lost their flair.  We took him to Boo at the Zoo for his third annual trip.
Scooby Doo at Boo at the Zoo!

A must stop, the lion den
There were a bunch of stations in the main grassy area.  One was dancing... here is Scooby jump jump jumping!
Though hard to see, Sam got to colour a marshmallow.  Big hit, big big hit!
My boys... I love them.  Sam has this super exaggerated smile... silly!
Auntie Angie stopped by and we made candy apples together.  A MUST as a new Halloween tradition.  Honestly, I might work them into every single holiday!
Time to enjoy!
When I saw this photo, I knew I had to post it.  It seems Sam got his exaggerated smile from me.  Just good genes, I guess.  Exact example of why I'm usually on the other side of the camera.
Parker stopped for a treat.  They decided to pose behind the bush.  Funny kids!
First ever trick or treat adventure.  With the guidance of Lincoln, Sam got the hang of it.  These two were super cute.
Taste testing his goodies.  What a fun fun night!
One of my favourite moments was when Sam turned around on the neighbours deck to tell me "Mom, I said you're welcome!"  Trying very hard to be polite, but we just don't quite have the hang of it yet!  We told him to know loud on the door, so he went up and with the softest knock yelled "BANG BANG BANG, knock loud!"  Love this guy!

Halloween - Finale!

For our last Halloween adventure, we took Sam to Boo at the Zoo.  Super fun event where tons of little people come to the zoo in their costumes during the day on Halloween to look at the animals and get some treats.  Sam LOVED it this year.  So many things to look at, music to dance to and kids to play with.  I think it's officially our Halloween tradition.

Our first stop... the lion den!  Sam roared his very best roar at this mommy and daddy lion.  I think they were really impressed with his roar-ability!

My little monkey checks out the big 'monkeys' while waiting for the Farrell girls to show up.
One of Sam's best girls, Payton, met up with us and instantly these two were holding hands.  Probably one of the cutest things ever!
Sam follows Payton into the tunnel.
My little monkey FLIES down this crazy slide and loves every second of it!
A bunny having a great time in the playground.
Parker joins in the fun... I know this photo doesn't really emphasize the word FUN but it really was a great day.
Cookie break!
Bunny HOP!  (Cute little Elmo in the background)
Some of my very favorite mommies with their girls.  Love them!
Taking a rest and goofin' around.
Baby bums
Three buddies having a Halloween treat... I can't even wait until they are a few years older to see the antics they come up with.  Or when they are 18 and we can show these photos to Sam's girl friend!
Cutest ever.
Good bye hug!  Thanks for the wonderful time!
A cookie for the stroll through the zoo and back to the car.  All in all, a perfect morning.  Did I mention my mom sewed this costume for him?!?!  Love it.

Halloween - Part Two!

Apparently Halloween has become a multiple day event for us!  Today we did some pumpkin gutting (carving is still to come, hopefully tomorrow!) and Halloween Eve trick or treating.

Scooping out pumpkin guts... he takes this job very seriously!
HAPPY Halloween!
Lid still fits... phewf!
Sam wanted to put the insides back into the pumpkin when we were finished... trying to clean up!
Pre Halloween trick or treating... costume that Sam's Gramma Bee made him.    He was a very good monkey!
First time getting Halloween treats and Auntie Lindsay is more excited than Sam!
Everyone thought it would be a great idea if Shaun borrowed Bill's toque for the rest of our Halloweening...  except Sam, he thought it was a terrible idea!
Hungry monkey
Who does this little duck think she is!?!?!
Probably only the sweetest little ducky EVER!
We hopped in the car with three more stops (Farrell's, Fradette's and Ross') but our monkey was NOT into anymore trick or treating.  There's always next year...
