Shaun's Biggest Fans!

Though Shaun has done this Tri many times, this is the third time Sam and I have came to be his cheer squad.  Each year Shaun improves and his goal this year was to be 33rd (ok, maybe it was my goal for him because I thought coming in 33rd at the age 33 would be cool) and he finished 36th.  AMAZING.  It is also increasingly fun to watch as Sam gets a little older.  He's more aware of what's going on and it's easier to keep his attention.  I think it's debatable who was more tired at the end of the race, Shaun or me.  Though Shaun did all the racing, I was running back and forth throughout the course carrying Sam to try to catch all the highlight moments!

We were so proud of Daddy this year!
Pre-race photo opt.  It felt very chilly but luckily it warmed up by race time!
Sam tried on Dad's swim cap.
SWIM!
Shaun sped through the transition zone this year.
Sam thought this sign was awesome.  I think it was because it was down at his level, but he thought he was really funny standing beside it.
We set up our viewing spot in the same place that we've watched for the past couple years.  This year we were armed with snacks, drinks, dinosaur, tractor, colouring book, extra clothes, 2 blankets and more!  We were very prepared!  This is a photo of Sam cheering "Yay Dad!"
BIKE
RUN
After Shaun passed us for the last lap of his run, we ran to the finish line (it was across the street and about a block away).  We made it in time to watch Daddy burn this guy at the finish line.  Love it!
Sam has been wearing his Mother's Day Run medal for the past week.  Here is a "medal cheers" as we  enjoy some post race snacks at the finish line!

A Mother's Day Tradition

It is now our third year of participating in the Mother's Day Run/Walk.  It is such an important event for us because the money raised goes directly into the hospitals that helped Sam and the purchasing of equipment that saved his life and helped him grow.  Our team has continued to grow and we run with a group of 6 this year.  So much fun.  The first year we ran there was light snow, last year there was pouring rain but this year brought nothing but sunshine!  Perfect.

Sam's Team
Me and my 'baby'
Our little team was part of this huge team of 13000 people... pretty incredible to be part of something so huge and so meaningful.
PHOTO BOMB!
After our run, Sam took part in his first Little Legs race... can you spot him at the start line?
Running like a great big guy!
The perfect ending to a beautiful day, Sam receiving his race medal.  He was soooooo proud.  Love.

Crafting for the Grannies!

Sammy wanted to paint something for his Grammas this year for Mother's Day.  He took it all very seriously and kept saying "My Gramma is going to love it."  And he was right, his artwork was the best part of our gift.  We are so grateful for the Grannies in our life.  Such wonderful Mother models!

A (snowy) Day with Thomas

Not even a freak spring snow storm could keep us from seeing Thomas the Train at Heritage Park.  It had potential to be an AMAZING day but the wind/snow/rain encouraged us to do the speediest version of checking out the trains.  It was very cool (no pun intended) and we'd love to go to the park in the summer and maybe even try to see Thomas again next year.
Our first Thomas sighting... pretty fabulous!
Doing stamping in one of the activity tents (aka seeking warmth for a wimpy mom!)
Apparently Sam is BIG into stamping!
My puppy.  He is the best little guy when someone is painting his face.  I can't believe how still he sits!
Here comes Thomas again!
Sam telling Mommy about Thomas.  He said "Thomas is beautiful Momma."
On happy little boy making the crumby weather not even matter.  Just perfect.
