Halloween - Part Two!

Apparently Halloween has become a multiple day event for us!  Today we did some pumpkin gutting (carving is still to come, hopefully tomorrow!) and Halloween Eve trick or treating.

Scooping out pumpkin guts... he takes this job very seriously!
HAPPY Halloween!
Lid still fits... phewf!
Sam wanted to put the insides back into the pumpkin when we were finished... trying to clean up!
Pre Halloween trick or treating... costume that Sam's Gramma Bee made him.    He was a very good monkey!
First time getting Halloween treats and Auntie Lindsay is more excited than Sam!
Everyone thought it would be a great idea if Shaun borrowed Bill's toque for the rest of our Halloweening...  except Sam, he thought it was a terrible idea!
Hungry monkey
Who does this little duck think she is!?!?!
Probably only the sweetest little ducky EVER!
We hopped in the car with three more stops (Farrell's, Fradette's and Ross') but our monkey was NOT into anymore trick or treating.  There's always next year...

Halloween - take 1!!!

It was a Halloween celebration at my school today.  A friend and I decided to go at Mario and Luigi... then another brilliant idea struck us to bring our kids in and have them part of our theme!!  I found a last minute dragon costume (our version of Yoshi) and Parker was the Princess!  Lots of fun!

Sam is a very lucky little guy and has a second costume to wear for Trick or Treating... his Gramma Bee sewed him one, but you are going to have to stay tuned to see it!

Sam and some of the other CMac babies (there are at least 5 more missing!)
Mario, Princess, Luigi and Yoshi

Yoshi on the loose!!!!
Come on P, let's go find some kids!!!

Snack break!!!
The wonderful and amazing staff that I get to spend my (every other) days with.

I'm a Big Kid Now!

No, Sam is not potty trained (the I'm a big kid now theme song is pull ups... I think), but he sure can feed himself cheerios and milk!!!  Ate the WHOLE bowl and stayed relatively clean!!!

SCOOP!
Down  the hatch!
I had to add this photo too... this is Sam after a slice of toast with nutella on it.  I also enjoy nutella A LOT but I just wish I could love it as freely and openly as Sam does!!!  Needless to say, he's tidier with cereal than toast.

Day at the Spa... errr Beaners

Though we've shaved Sam's head a few times, I'm counting today as Sam's first haircut.  His little buddy Smith was home with a cold today so we had a Mom and Sam day.  He woke up with the CRAZIEST hair style, and I thought it was the perfect excuse to get him a real haircut.

I like his face in the 'before' shot... it matches his wacky hair do!!!
Cool digger high chair he got to sit in for the haircut just wasn't enough to distract him.  He never cried or tried to get away, but he was definitely unimpressed!  The stylist was super sweet and worked hard to entertain him.  He didn't crack a smile for her until the whole experience was over.
He takes his hair appointments very seriously.  I think this might be the face I make during a haircut too...
Happy little boy with a new haircut and silly baby fauxhawk...  I think he really like the look of it because he was watching himself play in the mirror.

A Weekend of Reasons to be Thankful

This weekend we headed home to be with family for the long weekend.  We made a short stop to see Sam's great Gram and have an ice cream party while visiting.  Though I didn't get a picture of the generations, I thought it was so special to see them all together.  Life is a precious thing, that sometimes we forget to appreciate.

We spent two days at Shaun's parents' acreage.  There is something about that part of the country that is good for the soul.  The air is a little cleaner, the sky is a little brighter and life is a little slower... I love it.  Makes me happy, makes Sam happy.  There are no words to explain it why but it just feels like home.

We had an AMAZING brunch at my Auntie's this morning.  I love time with my family.  They make me smile and laugh.  Never a dull moment, lots of crazy facial hair and genuinely good people.

I have so much to be thankful for in this life that I live.  I'm lucky and blessed and truly happy.

A walk with Grandpa

Undeniably one of the most beautiful skies I've seen in a very
long time... breath taking.

Best ride in town!
Tried quadding and LOVED it!

Sound checked Uncle Chris's baby sized drum set... I have a feeling this is going to end up in my basement soon!

Probably the funniest thing ever... Sam started to toss the dirt clumps into the air and Roxy (Uncle Chris's 100lb dog) started to jump up and snatch them.  Sam thought it was AWESOME.  Full on belly laugh and had all of us laughing too.  So cute and good to see that Sam hasn't inherited my fear of big dogs!

Nothing better in the world than the sound of his voice...

Then and Now...

Sam spied this hat on one of his teddy bears and insisted on wearing it all day.  We bought it one year ago when we, Uncle Chris and Sam went to San Diego at Sea World.  Just another reminder of how much Sam has grown...

Skate Baby

Another blog of how happy skate boards make Sam.

In retrospect, this is probably highly dangerous... at the time, Sam and Shaun were having the best time.   Ooops.
Safer version of skateboarding on the dirt beside the park and Shaun's feet are on the ground... too much fun!  Look out Tony Hawk!

Daddy's Birthday was aMAZEing

Yesterday we celebrated Shaun's birthday.  After a quick pit stop at Canadian Tire and the mall, we were on route to meet the Gorday's at the Calgary corn maze.  I packed for us early that morning, not realizing it would be the HOTTEST day of the year!  Who knew Oct 2nd would get so close to 30 degrees!?!?!?  Though the heat was a little too much for the babes (and me!), we found lots of fun.

It really was as sunny as this picture shows... HOT HOT HOT.  I won't complain about sunshine though!
I climbed up onto the bridge to get a view of the maze... it's HUGE!
Petting zoo at the Corn Maze, big hit!  My little farmer.  Sam called this goat a "Puh-pee" - so close!
A little nervous of these animals so close to him.
This was a big goat.  Sam petted it while a little girl distracted it with snacks.
Found a sleepy pig
Learning about donkeys
Our wonderful friends that spent the day with us
This slide as crazy!  I loved it as much as Sam!  I think Grandpa Gord needs to build one at their house for us... :)
Daddy loved it too!
CORNy folks!
Next stop, pumpkin patch.  Sam thought these were all extremely heavy balls.  He couldn't even believe his eyes that all these 'balls' were as far as he could see.  Lucky day!

Our turn!
Sam finally decided on this one, so we bought it.  I hope it makes it until Halloween!
After supper we went for birthday ice cream.  They give babies a free tiny cone.  Sam took it from the lady and licked it like a pro!!!  He was soooo cute and ate every last bite!
Here are both my boys with their birthday ice cream.    There was no stopping Sam for the picture!  Happiest birthday to you Shaun.  I hope this next year is your very favorite one yet!
