My promise to you...

A year... can you believe it?  I laid awake the other night thinking back on this past year.  I want to be the best mom you could have wished for.  Ever.
I promise to wake up each morning to your little voice and smile when I see you in your bed, no matter how early it is.
I promise to get down to your level at least once a day and see the world the way you see it, play the way you play and be really goofy.

I promise to be able to have the energy to run with you when you learn to run.  I promise to try to let not let you out play me, and once you can I promise to be your biggest fan.

I promise to figure out what your very favorite foods are and let you have them often.  I promise that as long as you keep trying to eat my cooking, you can have a cookie after supper.  I promise to always taste test your food... if I won’t eat it, why should I expect you to?

I promise to teach you how to be a little boy that people love... the kind of kid that teachers, parents, coaches and other kids think the world of.

I promise to sneak kisses as long as you’ll let me.  I also promise to stop sneaking kisses once you are old enough to be embarrassed about it.
I promise to be the biggest distraction in your life from danger.
I promise to be the girl who will always love you most.  I also promise that when you love a girl that’s not me, to not get too upset by it.
I promise to make you laugh everyday, no matter how ridiculous I have to be.
I promise to not be overprotective, but always be there to dust you off and hug you if you need it.
I promise to love you no matter how sick, stinky or dirty you get.

I promise that whenever I can get a quiet moment out of you, I’ll snuggle you until you are ready to be on the go again.

I promise to take many really great photos that future girlfriends would love to see.

I promise to teach you to love people and to always treat people like they’ve never done you wrong.

I promise to let you and your daddy have guy time.  Regardless of the hilarity of your outfit, meal or situation I will let the two of you figure it out.
I promise to not be super embarrassing... I will try not to sing the grocery store, dance while driving, show up to your school in PJs, ask about any bodily function in front of friends or to use my own spit to clean your face.

I promise to be the best darn sports mommy there ever was.  Ever.  I mean ever.

I promise to sneak into your room to check on you while you sleep, enjoy the look on your face when you concentrate and recognize that pure joy in your eyes.  I promise to cherish these things like they are chocolate (chocolate means more than gold or diamonds to me!)

I promise to love you.
