A Boy-ish Weekend!

My last weekend of 'freedom' was spent with my guys.  When I told Shaun I wanted to do something as a family, he was quick to answer with a few different events we could check out.  A BMX competition and the Skate Park grand opening... not going to lie, wasn't terribly excited at first but it turned out to be the perfect way to spend a Saturday.
Sunday we did a big grocery shop and Shaun had to put a couple hours into work, so Sam and I had some alone time.  It is going to be hard in the morning to leave him... I just love him with all my heart.

Sam couldn't believe all the bikes!!!  This track is amazing and it was a national competition, so lots of excitement.
Must have gotten a little repetitive for Sam, as he decided to drop rocks down this crack instead.
Off to the skate park!  Sam had a quick snack on the bleachers while watching the boarders.  All ages and all skill levels, so very cool to see.
The park at the skate park was really cool.  We tried it all out.  Here is a super slippery slide.
Peek!
Very cool swing... perfect for little boy to ride all alone.
Sam tries to head back to the action.
Quick pit stop at this crazy teeter-totter.  FUN FUN FUN.
This guy was really crazy in the clover bowl... had to steal a shot.
Saw this wheat field and had to stop for a picture.  Just perfect.
Sam was amazed.
Bought a new bed for Sam called a peapod.  My friend Stacey has her triplets in them, so we thought we'd give it a try.  Sam loves it!
Baby cage!
Brushin teeth before bath time.
Get me in here!
For as bald as Sam always looks in pictures, here is a great shot of all his hair.

Fun Friday

My last weekday of my stay at home mom career... so strange.  Luckily I spent the day with my little sister (and her growing baby belly!) and Sam at the mall.  We did some back to school shopping for me and then a great play in the playground.  I don't know what I would have done this past year without Cross Iron Mills.  It is a wonderful place!

Sam's Auntie Brielle helps him put his shoes on so we can go adventure.
Cheese!
The baby playground had a prehistoric theme.  This is a volcano slide... very fast!
Ducking through the tunnel that goes under slide.
Climbing...
and climbing!
Last stop, playtime in Toys R'Us.  Wonderful to have millions and millions of toys that I don't have to clean up or listen to!!!   So far, I've never had to drag Sam out of the store screaming so it will continue to be our playland until then!

A Sunshiny Thursday

What a day!  It's days like today that make you fall in love with our city.  Big bright sun, nice warm breeze and plenty of ice cream stores!  Sam and I met a former student of mine for a visit at her family's cafe.  Her mom gave Sam a baby ice cream cone, but the warm weather made it melt really fast so I had to help him.  That's a quality of a good mommy!!!  We had a really great chat about her moving away to Edmonton to go to school.  This girl was one of my babies... you know, the type of student that you dream for your own children to be just like.  I'm so happy and excited for her, but I'm sad she will be hard to visit.  Makes me wonder how her mom is feeling... I can't even begin to imagine.  I'm having a hard enough time dealing with the thought of leaving my baby with a good friend of mine every other day.  This mom gig is tough.  I guess I just have to believe that he's a really great little boy and that he'll be fine with this new arrangement.  That there are so many things to learn from other babies and other adults, and he'll love being away and LOVE when I come to get him.

We had some fun in the evening sun tonight...

Sam takes his new 737 for a ride around the house.
A summer tradition has been to walk to the mailbox in the afternoon.  Sam carries the keys and we walk the block to the box.  He quickly learned which box was ours, that you put a key in and to turn the key.  He even will grab all the stuff out if he can reach it.  He takes this chore very seriously.
After getting the mail, we walk across the road to the walking path that divides our community from the railroad tracks.  From here we can also see Highway 2.  For a little boy, this is a very exciting adventure.  We wave and point and say hi to what ever is driving past.
Since we've never had sprinkler fun, and who knows how many warm nights we have left, we decided to have some water fun after supper.
Best idea ever!

Snuggle in the low sun before heading in for bed time.

Dirty Bird

Tonight Sam and I met Shaun at his work for a fun evening as a family.  Westjet invites the families of it's employees to take part in washing one of the planes (the dirty bird!!!)  Lots of fun with food, clowns, bouncy house, mini airplanes and a giant water fight.

Sam had supper in dad's cafeteria... for some reason he wanted to eat upside down.  Strange little animal!
We stopped to see this fountain on our way over the the hangar.  Keep your coins in your pockets folks, money has been costing the company tons as it gets stuck in the mechanics!!!  Ironic hey!
Here's our reflection in the fountain out front of Shaun's office.
Taking Sam through the bouncy house.  Great idea, but not quite as easy as all the kids make it look.  Notice me in the background stuck in the entrance.  Not embarrassing at all!
The end was wonderful and we had lots of fun.  Next year Sam will tear that thing up.  I struggle the whole way through but to see a smile like that, makes it all worth it.
Shaun thought he could do a better job taking him in the bouncer... this is proof that he couldn't.   :)
Here is Sam with a plane just his size.
My baby pilot
Is there anything more fun that a piggy back and giving dad wet willies?  Nope, there is nothing better than that!
The "bird" arrives late.  Fresh out of the sky and ready for hundred of wild eyed children to spray it with water guns.
My guys watching the plane pull into the hangar.
Shaun shows Sam the plane up close.  I didn't get this shot much before the two of them were sprayed with water.  Sam loved it!
Our fam... love these guys.
This is my "Where's Waldo" shot of the event.  Pretty cool to be part of something that not everyone has the opportunity to do.  Can't wait to see Sam armed with his own water gun next year!

Oh Wednesday... why couldn't last a little longer?

A very busy morning with friends as we had our end of summer backyard bash.  I realize it's sound like a crazy time, but it was mostly watching babies play from the comfort of the shade.  Nothing like relaxing with some wonderful friends while our kids play together.  Love it.  These are the days I treasure so much!
Morning started out with some quiet time reading books with Payton.  Payton's mommy makes the best truck sound effects!
Tiny toes... have to capture these moments as these feet will never be this small again.
Quick snuggle in the patio chair with Parker.

Group picture... Sam's got quite the herd of beautiful girls in his life!!!
Too hot out for a shirt!  We knew we'd get a very sun shiny day this summer!!  Here Sam and Payton play dump truck.
This is Smith... he is as busy as this picture makes him look!!!  Fortunately for his mommy, Smith has a long morning nap.  Unfortunately for Smith's pals, they are all cranky by the time he arrived.  We'll get this nap time coordinated someday so that we can all have a great play together!
